There’s nothing quite like those first days at home with your newborn. The quiet moments, the cozy snuggles, the way time seems to slow down and speed up all at once. It’s messy and magical and absolutely worth remembering.

As a mother, I’ve experienced the moment when your newborn is placed in your arms for the first time. Time does something funny. The days feel long, but somehow the weeks slip through your fingers.
That sleepy weight on your chest, the tiny sighs, the way their little fingers wrap around just one of yours, these moments deserve to be frozen in time. Babies are tiny miracles, and I consider it the greatest honor to preserve those fleeting, beautiful moments for you to cherish forever.
When Should I Schedule My Newborn Photography Session at Home?
For those tiny, sleepy newborn moments, the sweet spot for your session is typically between 7–14 days after your due date. If that window doesn’t work for your family, you haven’t missed your chance. Some families love having a bit more time to settle in at home, and that’s absolutely okay. Because my sessions are baby-led and lifestyle-focused, newborn sessions can take place any time in the first 6 weeks, or even up to 6 months. Older newborns often bring extra sweetness like eye contact, little smiles, and deeper connection that make for truly heart-melting images.
Book Online: Reserve Your Date on The Calendar
To reserve your newborn session, please select a date on the reservation calendar. You will be guided through the booking process. A $100 session retainer and contract are required in order to finalize your booking. Once your booking is confirmed, I will send over your session welcome guide to help you prepare for your session and a quick questionnaire to help me prepare for your session. If your baby arrives earlier or later than expected, don’t stress. Session dates are flexible, and we’ll adjust as needed based on when your little one makes their debut.

Elizabeth Hite Photography offers newborn photography in Portland, Oregon, as well as in Beaverton, Hillsboro, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Happy Valley, Tualatin, Tigard, Wilsonville, Vancouver, and Camas. If you live outside of these areas and would like to work with Elizabeth, please reach out about travel availability.

You can expect to receive your photos 2 weeks after your session date, delivered via a personal online gallery.

You will be given personal printing rights to download and print images as you please. Elizabeth Hite Photography offers professional lab printing of images a la carte through your online gallery. Clients may choose to print from outside labs, but Elizabeth Hite Photography cannot guarantee the quality of prints from an outside lab.

I respect your family privacy! All clients will be given the option to have their photos shared publicly by Elizabeth Hite Photography on the website, blog, and/or social media.

Of course!
If your newborn has siblings, we will want to include them in photos. I do not put pressure on siblings to participate, instead, I invite them to join in throughout the session when they feel like it. I want their experience to be fun and relaxed as well.
If grandparents are around, I will encourage them to join for a few photos.

Yes, I offer fresh 48 sessions! A Fresh 48 session is a special way to document the first 48 hours of your newborn's life in your hospital room or birth space. During your session, I document all the tiny and oh so sweet milestones such as first yawns, sibling introductions, first feedings, and lots of sleepy snuggles!
