How to Prepare Your Toddler for a Successful Family Photoshoot | Trillium Lake Family Session

Family photography session at Trillium Lake, Mt Hood Oregon

5 Tips to Prepare Your Toddler for a Successful Family Photoshoot

1. FULL tummy!  Don't let your kiddo go hungry or thirsty before or during your photos.  If your session is in the evening, have an early dinner. Bring snacks along in case they need a mid-photo shoot snack break.

2..  Make sure your kiddo is well rested, even if this means adjusting the nap schedule for a day.

3. Make sure your kiddo is wearing comfortable clothes.  If you bought a special outfit just for photos, have them wear it around the house for a bit a few days before to make sure nothing about the outfit is irritating them.

4. RELAX.  Have you ever watched the Dog Whisperer ? Cesar Milan tells dog owners over and over again that dogs sense stress and react to it. Kids sense stress too.  Model to your kiddo that you are excited to go to your upcoming photo adventure, and the positivity will spread through your whole family!

5. Show up prepared to be silly and have fun! Enjoy being present with your family and take in the moments.  I want to photograph your family just as you are at this point in time.

These are a few favorite photos from Tori, Patrick, and little Griffin’s family session up at Trillium Lake! This family is so adventurous that I knew it would be the perfect location! Oregon has so many beautiful locations to offer as family photography backdrops if you get out and explore a little!   Little Griffin did SO GREAT the whole session and even showed off some of his new walking skills!
